In 2008 Kingston residents John Taylor and Thelma Rumsey produced a series of short films on behalf of the Kingston Local History Society. The films were collectively titled ‘Preserving Kingston’s Past’ and were made available on a DVD. The films give a wonderful insight into various aspects of Kingston village life in times past – largely through the recollections of some of the village’s older residents at that time, many of whom have since sadly passed away. We have now made these films available via links on this website.

Bearing in mind that today’s events are tomorrow’s history, village resident Bob Musk has assembled a collection of videos covering more recent times in Kingston – many with an emphasis on fun! They can be found on Bob’s own Youtube Channel here. But we have included one video below that reminds us of a very strange period that future historians will certainly write about. The video is based on a wonderfully simple idea taking us on tour of the village’s surprisingly numerous watering holes – at a time when we could only drink alone !

Tradition dictates that once a year Kingston’s population puts on a pantomime in the Reading Room. The shows, ostensibly based on familiar panto themes, are invariably woven with local references – often with hilarious results. Most of the village gets involved, either on stage, behind the scenes, or by snapping up the tickets as soon as they become available. Bob Musk has put video recordings the two most recent productions on YouTube.
